What's an artifact? What's a Centre Portfolio?
Artifacts are any items captured or documented related to the child's development. Examples of artifacts are:
- Pictures captured during birthday events under the provider's services.
- Pictures of artwork or craft that the child created, providing telling evidence of their development.
- Progress or developmental reports stored in files such as Microsoft Word or Adobe PDF that record the child's developmental progress.
- Video clips capturing the child's actions (e.g. first steps).
- Voice clips capturing the child's conversation (e.g. first words).
- Lesson plans to show what the child is learning.
Storing artifacts digitally in the child's portfolio provides one crucial benefit: It allows for the storing and recording of the child's developmental progress, as well as for the retrieval of historical information.
Artifacts are uploaded to the Centre Portfolio and are assigned appropriately to specific children to ensure privacy is maintained - that is, each parent will have access ONLY to artifacts assigned to their child's portfolio.
Centre Portfolio
The Centre Portfolio is used as the central repository of all artifacts for portfolio management. In other words, all artifacts created under your services are available in the Centre Portfolio, ready to be assigned to rooms and/or children. Assigning an artifact to a room will automatically assign the artifact to all the children belonging to the room. The diagram below shows the Centre Portfolio structure.
